Mad.co.uk My Weekend: Joy Remuzzi
It's the weekend, how do you feel?
Happy, because it means I’m on my own schedule for two days. A bit sad, because I will miss my work colleagues. They are an enjoyable bunch who work well together and they always make me laugh.
What's your favourite Friday night drink?
What are you serving? Oh, sorry, make that a white wine. Or a vodka martini. Being a marketer, I have a two drink minimum to live up to!
Do you ever have to work at the weekend?
Yes, a lot of marketing activities are deadline driven, and one doesn’t always get the quiet time to write in a busy office. But that’s me pushing myself, I get a lot of grief from my boss if he hears I’ve been putting in extra time at weekends.
How do you feel about it?
It comes with the territory - I’ve been in marketing/PR for over 10 years, I’m used to it. Besides, there‘s a great sense of satisfaction in getting a project done - or started - at your own speed. And I needn’t go into the office, I have a laptop and a wireless connection at home.
What's your favourite weekend activity?
I live in Central London, so that’s a hard call, there are so many choices: shopping, meeting up with friends, going to a museum (I belong to three major art venues), dining out. I generally have one meal out on Saturday or Sunday. I tend to cook during the week, so it’s nice to have someone else do the preparation and washing up. Oh, and I have a passion for video games and lovefilm.com, I watch at least one movie a week from the comfort of my couch. I balance this inactivity with a run usually on both days, as long as the weather permits.
If you could spend the weekend with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
It would have to be someone of a literary or artistic persuasion. I have always been an Anglophile (am an American ex-pat), and my favourite authors and artists are British. A date with Dickens would be lovely, especially if he were alive today and could comment on the differences between London then and now. My favourite authors are Virginia Woolf and D.H. Lawrence - let’s invite them round too, along with the artist Francis Bacon, for a boozy soirée.
Where would you go?
Depends on whether it’s a long weekend - in which case, back to NYC (which is where I grew up) or over to Paris, Barcelona, Stockholm or Helsinki (I’ve Scandinavian roots). If a normal two-day break, then its off to the Tate Modern.
