Julian Walker

Chief Client Officer & Co-Founder Julian Walker has 10 years advertising experience, spanning on and offline media, and weathering the dotcom boom and bust.
Julian began his media career at IT publisher VNU, selling advertising in various market leading IT publications, along with several new internet ventures. This background in the IT market fed his interest in the internet both as a business and media platform, and enabled his wider understanding of its potential as a direct marketing channel.
Julian’s experience also includes the specialist communications division of WPP, where his on & offline media knowledge informed his work developing cross media opportunities within easyInternetCafes across the UK. This time coincided with the bursting of the dotcom bubble, which, while exhilarating, left him under no illusions that any business needs a sound basis, whatever platform it choses to trade on.
More recently Julian was UK Sales Manager at Espotting (now Miva). Espotting was one of the first UK based companies to spot the market opportunity in the paid search marketplace. Julian took sole responsibility for establishing and developing the SEM(s) sector within the business; it was at the sharp end of this experience that Julian began to isolate the existing weaknesses within the UK SEM(s) market. Developing relationships at this point in such a growth industry compounded his deep marketing understanding and passion for the undeniable strength and trackability of PPC, and laid the foundations for the inception of Steak with his partners.
