AOL buy Buy.at

The press release is on the Buy.at site here. Financial details not disclosed.
Interesting move by AOL USA (part of Time Warner, not AOL UK, who are owned by Carphone Warehouse). This follows AOL's earlier acquisition of Advertising.com a few years back.
This in part looks like AOL taking a promising upstart out of the affiliate game before they get too big and expensive - buy.at have shown hunger to win deals and market share and were the largest UK independent affiliate network with over 200 brands and over 6,000 affiliates.
Congratulations to all at Buy.at - although sources suggest their staff didn't know the deal was coming.
Takeover fever seems to be returning to the Internet industry...
