Invasion of the British Bulls at SES NYC

The Steak Media mascot is infiltrating NYC, just as he did on the streets of London...

March 2008, New York City: It has been a busy month for the Steak NY team. Just a week after officially launching in the States, we participated in one of the industry's largest search marketing conferences - Search Engine Strategies NYC.

Armed with the Steak mascot, the squeezy bull Bruce, we headed over to the Hilton Hotel to set up our meadow-themed booth.  Within minutes of the show doors opening, Bruce and the booth had become a real hit with the conference attendees. While the herd of bulls grazed on our  grass floor and charmed their way into the hands of passers-by, industry thought-leaders discussed the latest trends, including our very own NY Managing Director, Chrysi, who took part in the session "My Search Is Better Than Your Search".

As well as standing out from other agencies exhibiting at SES, the Steak team spread the message that we are all about search-led communications and our mission is to bring the intelligence of search to all marketing communications - both online and offline and from media to creative.  We're marketers, not technologists.

But, the real success of the show was our bulls.  Everyone commented on how wonderful these little purple tchokes were... they definitely stood out from the average free pen or notepad given away at other booths. In fact they created such a buzz, that people began blogging about them!  Just check out The Daily Tubber... thank you guys!

So, just why is the Steak mascot such a "love-a-bull" little guy and a hit across both sides of the Atlantic?

  1. He stands out from the crowd: purple is his color, Bruce is his name and he's made out of a material that you just want to squeeeeeeze!
  2. He's low maintenance: there's no need to keep this bull at arm's length, he loves to be squeezed and is happy to live on your desk, in your car or anywhere you chose to display him!  He hates being kept in a dark draw, feeling unwanted.
  3. He's a stress buster and is a safe and easy to use alternative to yoga or aerobics. Used at the end of a hard day's work or a busy day at SES Bruce has a calming effect, aiding relaxation and helping to regain energy lost during the course of a hectic day.  (And he feels nice to squeeze! Did we mention that yet?!)
  4. He's friendly: while he is priceless to us, we are proud to share our mascot with Steak friends. If you visit one of Steak's offices or see us at conference or trade show be sure to ask for one.
  5. He's award-winning, OK maybe not him personally...yet, but Steak has built up an impressive trophy cabinet - UK Media Agency of the Year, UK Entrepreneur of the Year, IAB, MIXX and OMMA award finalists.
  6. He's well travelled: he's been spotted in London, New York , Melbourne and..even at Buckingham Palace!

Now that SES NY has come to an end the Steak team is back in the comfort of its SoHo office.   As for our squeezy mascot, he gets to go on another exciting adventure and will be making a guest appearance at the following events:

Australia: 20nd - 22nd May 08 - Marketing & SEO Conference, Sydney
UK: 24th - 25th June 08 - The Online Marketing Show, London
